About the event
In this workshop we will enjoy a mindful grounding activity to connect to the land before experimenting with playful drawing techniques. You will also be given time to develop your own artworks in response to the plants, crops and wildlife in these abundant surroundings. If you enjoy time in nature and are looking for an opportunity to nurture your creativity, this workshop is right for you.
What experience do I need to have?
No previous experience is necessary, just bring yourself and an open mind. All the activities offered will be fun and accessible for all levels and abilities. Children and family friendly.
Will we be gardening?
We won’t be gardening or tending to the land on this occasion. Consider the allotment a space for creative inspiration and an opportunity to experience plants, flowers and crops in new ways.
What shall I bring?
All art materials will be provided (paper, pens, pencils, charcoal, chalks etc.) though you are also welcome to bring your own supplies such as a favourite sketchbook or paints if you’d like to use them. Plants need water and so do we, so bring a drink to stay hydrated. There will be some rugs and chairs available for sitting.
What about the weather?
Plan to wear clothes suitable for the weather on the day, such as raincoats or umbrellas, suncream and hats. The workshop will only be rescheduled in a heavy downpour, in which case you will be invited to the following workshop, or refunded if you can’t make it.
Is the workshop physically accessible?
The allotments are just off a residential road, accessible for parking and the bus stop is a 3-minute walk. The workshop will take place on flat grass through a gate, so larger mobility scooters may not be able to fit. If you have any concerns, please contact Holly directly.
